LiMux' "Wine-Keller"
The city of Munich's project LiMux is currently migrating around 14 000 PCs to the Linux (Debian) operating system. In the process, many proprietary and highly specialized applications need to be analyzed for their compatibility with Linux/Wine. Robert Jähne (robertDOTjaehne@muenchen.de) is working for Munich and taking care of the better part of those analysis; ITOMIG (Stefan Munz, DavidGümbel) has been contracted for consulting and technical support of the software migration process.
Application List
This is a list of Munich's programs that will undergo analysis for compatibility with Linux/Wine. Please note that not all programs are equally important for Munich. However, this list should give a good idea about the requirements of a larger administration when it comes to running their software under Linux and Wine.

Apps notes
GEOInfo: The CD doesn't provide MFC40.dll and threed32.ocx. However they can be easily found in the Internet. After installing the software in must be run in the correct directory - e.g. by using wine start on the Start Menu link file (in C:\Windows\profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\GeoInfo NT Muenchen)
OPAS: Requires Wine 0.9.47. Currently must be run in a virtual desktop as in most window managers in the calendar window the tooltip control will get the focus what will break OPAS. If killed too many times the app may fail to start with an error dialog that it cannot create a temporary file - one must clean C:\windows\temp for it to run.
Bonner Katalog: needs to be started with correct command line arguments. E.g. use wine start on the Start Menu link file (in C:\Windows\profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Bonner Katalog)
