I'm really just a Wine user who has picked up this Wiki as yet another hobby. I started wikiing (if that's a word) here partly as a result of some comments on the wine-users mailing list. An inexperienced user was instructed to RTFM. I thought a) that wasn't very nice and b) not very useful. If you're going to rudely run a user off to read the documentation, I think you owe it to that user to insure said documentation is of exceptional quality. The Wine documentation is in need of a good refurbishment. (Of course I'm not advocating running users off should the documentation become really good. Just that if one is directed to read, it should be good reading.)
I started with the Wiki because, IMHO, there just isn't a better documentation tool out there than a good Wiki. It empowers people to improve a document which otherwise would have been a lesser work. Even though the contributing individual may not be a subject area expert, he or she can still contribute.
Often there's much to be learned too which is a nice side effect of contributing.
My goal is to whittle through the WikiToDo page when I have time. We definitely need more people adding content and combing the Wiki.
