Great Demos
Impressive apps that work really, really well, and that anyone can try for free, are a great tool for demonstrating Wine to skeptical audiences. (And potentially good for automated regression testing.)
The AppDB should be able to provide a list of such apps - go to Browse Apps, filter on Platinum, check Downloadable, and click Search.
But most of what that search finds are low production quality apps which, even if they work well, aren't very impressive. We may add fields to the AppDB soon to allow filtering on reputation somehow (e.g. on presence of a Wikipedia entry), but until then, here's a hand-built list.
The criteria for putting apps on this list are:
- Appdb *platinum* rating (i.e. runs great, requires no tweaks, hacks, mods, patches, or recipes. At most winetricks mfc42, but not winetricks directx.)
- Impressive (i.e. has Wikipedia or other review)
- Freely downloadable (demo or full)
The list is divided up into rough categories.
